SevenTwo7 is currently in the process of creating a line of microfluidic analytical devices that are meant to offer an alternative to classic Mass Spectrometry for the analysis of heavy metal ions, and other small molecules. Future endeavors will seek to fold in large molecule analysis as well as cellular and other large particle separations.

The microfluidics being developed by SevenTwo7 are generally PDMS molded or glass microchannels, offering electrochemical separatory power on a much smaller scale than classic HPLC or other analytical methods.

Scalability and cost will be the biggest benefits for our customers. Whereas a lab seeking to perform heavy metals analysis on an ICP-MS system will need to buy the instrument, dedicate precious lab space as well as upgrade the environment to accomodate heat and waste, hire a scientist to maintain and operate the machine as well as a technician to perform analysis, costing hundreds of thousands of dollars up-front, our devices will allow customers to set up contracts by which they will receive a chip reader as part of contract signup, and will only pay for easy to use test chips or cartridges as they need them. Spending money will only be necessary while making money.

Other major benefits to our technology include waste and enviromental impact reduction, given the reduced use of gases, reagents, and expensive metal consumables like those found in classic HPLC based systems. Another major benefit will be run times. As our separations are highly specialized, we can offer run times of less than a minute per sample, especially for analytes such as heavy metals. The last major benefit is that our methods are nearly immune to sensitivity issues, as analytes can be concentrated and pooled electrochemically during analysis.
